| Diamond Clarity |
Clarity refers to how pure a diamond is. It describes how clear or lack of flaws in a diamond. Virtually all natural diamonds have
inclusions, although many are invisible to the naked eye. Inclusions (or imperfections) are tiny traces of minerals, gasses,
or other elements that were trapped inside during the crystallization process. These are nature's birthmarks. They may look like tiny
crystals, clouds, or feathers.
The worldwide terms to describe the clarity of a diamond:

FL,IF,VVS1,VVS2:Impossible to extremely difficult to find any inclusions, even under 10x magnification. These qualities are of
investment grade and not practical for most people.
VS1,VS2: No visible inclusions to the naked eye and difficult to find inclusions with 10x magnification.
SI1,SI2: Clear to the naked eye (eye clean) when viewed from the top. Inclusions visible with 10x magnification. This is the
average quality diamond sold throughout the world.
I1,I2,I3: Inclusions visible to the naked eye. Use of 10x magnification should not be needed.
Promotional: All diamonds lower than I3. These are used for purposes other than jewelry.
Less than 1% of all diamonds ever found have had no inclusions and can be called flawless(FL) or internally flawless (IF).
The clarity of a diamond is graded by number, type, size, and position of the inclusions. The fewer and smaller the inclusions, the more
rare and valuable the diamond. If an inclusion is too large, it can interfere with the light path and diminish the stones appearance and
thus it's value.
